Shooting a toddler means going with the flow. So, with the flow we went-- even when it involved picking berries or being a princess.

Jordyn directly! After all, 'tis the season!
This is a post literally written in light! While in DC for the giving of thanks festivities we headed to the National Zoo for their holiday celebrations! I'm always a sucker for holiday lights, cheesy holiday lights, zoos, zoos-after-hours and adventures. That being said, this was a the perfect outing to take with the family.
I'll be updating the adventures section of the website later this week for more pictures from the trip to DC... so, stay excited!
The traditional post-Thanksgiving trip to see fish. And dolphins. And sharks named Bruce.
The dolphin show!
Like any good day, Thanksgiving started with a good teeth brushing and some Cinnamon Roll eating.
And, much like the pilgrims, we painted.
And.... then enjoyed the food.
And, finally.... the TURKEY LEG.
Days like this.... deserve views like this!
Nothing quite as stressful as holiday travel!
What would a photograph of sound look like? Or, what if the photograph didn't tell the story of the musician, but of the music?
Tonight I attended a dance performance entitled "Water is Rising: Music and Dance amid Climate Change: Artists from the Pacific Atolls of Kiribati, Tokelau and Tuvalu".
I asked before the show started if I could take a few pictures. I was told "no", "no", "no" and "hrm. well. Okay. But just a few." When the show started I eagerly pulled out my camera and snapped just a few during the opening number. Somehow the skies opened up and about 18 separate ushers came to remind me of the no camera policy. Despite having spoken to the director of the Crash Arts programming, my inner "oh crap!" being came out, and I quickly ditched the camera.
I only captured a small part of the story, but I hope you can still see what an amazing experience it was. The performance told of three island nations whose entire way of life and culture are being threatened by global warming. I'm attending a lecture tomorrow about the islands and their unique responses to these threats, so I'll share more on the science side of this tomorrow.
Perhaps the most amazing thing about the evening was stepping away from the cold weather and into an entirely different world. The theater was located in a very Phantom of the Opera appropriate setting, and felt cold and daunting. Before the performance began I was distracted by drafts and cranky old rickety seats. Yet somehow, despite the fact that today was the first down jacket day of the season, I spent my evening immersed in the culture, dance and song of the pacific.
